University Park is a city located in Dallas County, Texas, and it is one of the inner suburbs of Dallas. As of 2010 the population had exceeded 23,000 residents, many of which work at the city’s Southern Methodist University. University Park combined with nearby Highland Park make up the Park Cities, which is a Dallas enclave. As part of a humid subtropical climate zone, the region tends to receive dry and warm winds from the north and west throughout the summer, and this can bring temperatures up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Winters are usually mild or warm, but sharp temperature swings may occur with cold fronts.
There are numerous attractions and points of interest located in the University Park area. The Holmes Aquatic Center is found within this community, as is the Meadows Museum, which features a sculpture garden and various works of art. Southern Methodist University’s Gerald J. Ford Stadium is located in this city, and the NorthPark Center is a popular shopping destination in the region.
